Because I eat mostly whole foods but supplement with protein shakes and protein snacks just isn't as catchy...

Wordless Wednesday: Sending my Downward Dog Heavenward

“Mommy, I hope Chili’s not chasing cats in heaven.”

“I’m sure he is honey. I’m sure he is…”

The original adoption agency photo that stole my heart. He is a canine botox before picture.

Taken by the kidlet. Chili was BeautifulUgly.

He was bossy. He shed all over the carpet, my yoga pants and the furniture. He jumped on the leather couch and slept in (not on) our bed. He ate everything in sight, including a live bird at least a third of his body size. Chili Pepper was an opportunistic emotional eater (maybe we were soul mates?). I often heard the refrain (in a crying toddler voice) “Chiwi ate my wunch!”

I miss you every single day buddy.

  1. I really feel for you, we lost our 16 year old boarder collie last week :(. They might be play mates at the doggy park in the sky.

  2. Awwww, sweet Chili! What a sweet little guy. We have an equally annoying/loveable girl that's 10 x his size. We will be devastated when she goes. She killed a skunk once, 'nuff said.

    Here's to Chili!

  4. What a precious little boy!

I'm so sorry -- I know how deep animal bonds can go. I cried much more over the death of my first pooch than any of my relatives. But he looks like he had a lot of fun years!

  6. Xoxo I love my pupster more than many parents love their kids (a sad fact that gets repeated to me frequently - makes me want to wring those parents' neck) and when he goes (100 years from now - we have an agreement) I will be devastated!

  7. Thank you so much everyone. He died in a tragic accident, but I'm so grateful for every moment we had.

  8. Sweetie- you know how my heart broke when you told me about Chile. He was ugliful to the n-th degree. He didn't have 'a face only a mother could love' because i know that Samantha loved him from afar.

Animals grab ahold of our hearts and do not let go. They are kinder than most people. That is why it's so devastating to lose them. In our family, we always lament the fact that our lifespans are so wildly differing- it's just not fair to us humans.

Much love to you and Chile up there romping in heaven.
